"The second most-frequent writing request, after books, is for school papers. We respond to all such queries by refusing to help a student cheat himself (or herself) out of an education."

There is nothing that says "amateur" like misspellings, poor grammar or disconnects in a text. A publisher, literary agent or book reviewer will ignore your manuscript if the writing is under par, even if your content is phenomenal. Fortunately, it is so easy to head off instant failure before it happens by hiring a professional manuscript copy editor or proofreader for your book.
"Make sure your target audience actually reads your copy."
What our proofreaders and copy editors do for you
PROOFREADING: Let's begin with the basics. We can proofread your copy for you:
- correct spelling
- correct grammar
- correct punctuation
- correct word usage (Do you know when to use "that" and when to use "which"?)
Sometimes "correct" might include slang or colloquialisms, depending on the nature of your audience and the subject of your text. We understand that and we work with you to ensure your copy says what it should the way you mean it to.
We do more than just simple proofreading. We work across your pages or documents to ensure a consistent voice and uniform word usage. For example, if some chapters of your website or book are written in academic language, you probably don't want slang to appear out of context in other sections.
Similarly, if you use American spellings, such as "center" and "favor" in your text, you don't want to suddenly insert Canadian or British spellings, such as "centre" or "favour". And if you refer to running shoes in some places, sneakers in others and gym shoes in still others, you might want us to establish some consistency.
EDITING: Our manuscript editors can do all this for you, PLUS we can help bring your text to life. Adjectives and adverbs add a little extra touch, but a few well-placed action verbs, vivid nouns or powerful analogies can breathe even more life into your manuscript.
