Jennifer, PageRank is an algorithm Google uses to rate the importance of each web page, based primarily of the number and importance of the pages linking to it. Importance is one factor that helps a page rank well for various searches.

Whatever they say, from my past experiences, I found that good backlinks are also important for any site to be one the first SERP. Yeah content is most important thing, but one can't ignore the importance of backlinks. And there are two type of opinions available for bounce rates, some people takes it very seriously and some don't even check bounce rate for their client sites.

After reading about bounce rates i think google should not do this as the blogger puts in all his efforts to make its blog and get traffic. Google should only look for spam blogs. The bases on which google decides about the bounce rate doesn't seem to be right as some one like the blog and the other person don't like it so he leaves the blog and move to the other one. Everyone interests are different.
